Saturday, July 26th

Exciting night on the Riverfront Saturday, the BOR was very well represented in many forms, all female teams, co-ed teams, co-ed pair and female pairs. Good to see so many out taking advantage of some great July weather.

The Loonie Marathon Friday night sounded like a wash-out, and I think all post race photos have been banned from the Internet...you know, I'm not even sure if I want a race report from this one. Congrats to those who finished and age group placed, and a few dried out and even made it out to run the relay, always amazed!

It was a big Tri weekend as well, we had one finish her first tri in the Indy Sprint and several did the 1/2 Ironman distance here at home in the Tri put on by the Southern Indiana Tri Team. Congratulations to everyone on a major accomplishment!

Good Luck to all doing the Dash for Donna 5k in the am and the Night Flight races in the pm on Saturday!

Below is more of the same for Saturday, a couple of options for those wanting to head back early to run with the Team 13 group. Next week I plan to incorporate an early run out to Central to meet up with Team 13, run the 5 miles and head back Downtown for those interested and needing the mileage.

See you next Saturday!

July Pizza: Stan's Una Pizza

Can't begin to tell you how many times we have run by the July pizza choice. After many an evening running up Harmony Way, tempted by the smells of fresh baked pizzas, we finally gave it a try, and was not disappointed.

This month we went the delivery route, tomato, green pepper and mushroom were our topping choices and it was loaded on top of a very good sauce and a crispy cracker crust which stood up well during the delivery process. This one was an age group winner in my book.

Seven months, seven new pizzas.......this is proving to be the easiest resolution to stick to yet, and I highly recommend for 2015.

Saturday, July 5th

Where to start this week, how about Auburn, California where our own Dave Nichols took on and conquered the oldest and most prestigious 100 mile trail race, the Western States 100. Dave certainly provided an exciting, inspiring and nail biting 29+ hours. Congratulations Dave on this major accomplishment and a big round of applause to Craig Luebke, Robert Yehling and Don Nichols who paced and encouraged to help make it happen. I’m sure everyone can’t wait to hear the stories on this one.

Now to Franklin Street, where a few brave took on the first ever Franklin Street Marathon, some solo efforts and some teams, Congrats to all who took part on a muggy June night. Saturday morning brought both more warmth and more racing, Congrats to everyone who took part and those who age grouped in the Colon Run downtown, looked like a very fast race again this year.

And out of Africa, Congrats to Michelle Walker, another marathon another continent, this one may have had a little too much wildlife for my taste!

In non-running news, the first stop on the BOR Wine Tour was a success! Great weather, music , wine and company. Thanks to those who were able to make it to Mystique Winery Saturday afternoon, next up Ruby Moon in Henderson, KY, date TBD.

Good Luck to those heading down to Sebree, KY on the 4th of July for one of the oldest races around, always hot but always a good time.

After the ½ marathon preview last week, we’ll head West this weekend, below are a few options for Saturday morning. Everyone have a Happy and Safe 4th of July.

See you Saturday!

June Pizza: The Vault

The best part about this pizza was the convenience factor, six floors down. A decent sauce, the crust was not awful but also not crispy. We went with tomato and mushroom for toppings which were a little light, and the cheese was slices not shredded and a little thick for my taste. Overall, I have to say ordering a pizza and taking the elevator down to pick it up makes this pizza work in a pinch and probably another try.

Saturday, June 28th

Congrats to all who braved the heat last Saturday at the Laufenfest 5k, looked like a few took advantage of the new age group trophies after the race, and great race to a couple of the BOR’s youngest members Evelyn and Ethan!  And great runs to those who took on and survived the Jackal Trail Marathons!

She’s Back! She took a couple of years off from the marathon but she went big for her return, Congrats to Renee Sills on a great run out West in the Seattle Marathon, can’t wait to hear about this bucket list race.

Speaking of sharing a story, if you haven’t had a chance yet, be sure to check out Martha’s recap of Rim to Rim below.

Good Luck and safe travels to Dave Nichols and Craig Lubke, as Dave sets out for the Western States 100 miler with pacer (and racer) Craig by his side, should be fun to track this one all weekend. Best of Luck also to Michelle Walker as she takes on another continent, and sounds like plenty of wildlife, at the Victoria Falls Marathon in South Africa.

And on the Home front, Good Luck this weekend to those toeing the line on Franklin Street Friday night and Downtown Saturday morning in the Franklin Street Marathon/Half Marathon and the Colon Run.
