December 19, 2020

For those counting, it's the third Saturday of December, and Christmas is fast approaching, along with the end of 2020.  Can I get a big Amen on that!  Last weekend, for BOR, the start and finish of training was at the Downtown Y.  Run Walk 812, started at Mesker, and some deferred until Sunday with the threat of rain.  The Loop Group met at Wesselmans.

This weekend, we will assemble around outside Ultimate Fit for the annual Ozanam Family Shelter Toy Trot Drive.  Run Walk 812 And the Loop Group will meet at 7 am.  Ultimate Fit will open at 8, and there are different length routes to run, and at the end, come in and shop for your running needs.  Jeff and Brad Hayden should have vehicles there at the beginning to load your Christmas gifts in.  Plan to Social Distance.  Come out and support a great cause at this time of need!

If you find mistakes in this post, sorry, experiencing battery charging issues, and rushed to get it done.

In local races, with so many up in the air, check out the sites below to confirm, or sign up for the ones that have gone virtual.

Enjoy your run, and As always, be courteous and thoughtful to the drivers while running the streets!

Goal for 2020
Not to be Better Than Anyone Else,
But to be Better Than YOU Used to Be!

Remember to shop local, and support our favorite running and fitness store. Curt, Cindi, and the Ultimate Fit team will help you get to and through your training and racing needs! They will have all of the winter layering and cold weather gear you might need. With the earlier darkness, get your illumination gear, so everyone can see you coming while running the streets!

November 14, 2020

It's the second weekend in November, and the crazy year is winding down.  The weather is cooling down again for the weekend, and if you are lucky Saturday, you will beat the rain.  Last weekend we started and finished at Forefront Therapy, and if you had any therapy needs, I hope you were able to get some answers.  Some of you may have ventured to the race in Bowling Green, and hoping you ran well!  Michelle Walker found another marathon not too far away in Louisville KY.  Congrats on another one for the books. (little pun there)

This weekend we will start from the Downtown Y, with Run Walk 812 starting at 7am, and BOR starting at whatever time from the Y, you want to add extra miles, or with them if you want to add to the end or somewhere in between.  Some of us are starting at 6:30 am to get a few extra, and then returning to join the 812 group at 7.  The Loop Group is starting at Old Newburgh Lock and Dam parking lot. at 7 am, for loops from there.

Don't forget to round up some canned goods and hygiene products for next weekends run from Ultimate Fit, to benefit Ozanam shelter.   Some of the items needed are canned fruit, tuna, carrot. Non Food items needed, deodorant, hair brushes, combs.

In local races, To The Finish has the, Evansville Civic Theatre Off Broadway 5K at Lamasco Park, at 9 am.  There are still some virtual races available to get in on, especially my favorite Turkey Day 5K by Goodwill Industries.  See the sites below for more information on them.  Some of the Ultra runners are heading to Tunnel Hill this weekend for some long running races.  Check with Durbin Race Management for details.

Enjoy your run, and As always, be courteous and thoughtful to the drivers while running the streets!

November 7, 2020

Here we are, into the first Saturday of November, and the weather went from cool to warm again, so if you are one that likes the warm, this is for you!  Last weekend we had a nice route on the east side, and except for that one big hill both ways on Lincoln, it wasn't too bad.  Some were really into the Halloween spirit, and in full dress for the occasion!  Thanks Shari!  There were also a couple of local races, and I hope some of you got to test out your speed for the short distances.  Mom O Six, Michelle Walker found another marathon, this time in Michigan, and pulled another good time, in more ways than just running, with good sights, and friends.  The best part of running out of town races.  Congrats Michelle!

This weekend, Shari is leading the 812 group from Forefront Therapy, at 7 am.  She will have 3.25, 5.5, and 8 miles for your running pleasure.  For those that want a few more, Start out at the Y at 6:50 am, and run to Forefront on First St.  Then at Walnut and Kentucky, head east in the middle of the route to add more miles. Turn around where you want and get the miles you need.  The Loop Group will start at Garvin Park at 7 am, and run their loops from there.  Lots of options for miles you want.  Have fun!

I forgot to mention that the annual Ozanam Food Drive is coming up on November 21, at Ultimate Fit, at 7 am.  Some of the items needed are canned fruit, tuna, carrot.  Non Food items needed, deodorant, hair brushes, combs.

In local racing, Saturday, there is the, Relay Worship 4-Miler at Ethram White Park, in Bowling Green, KY.  There are still some of the virtual races to get in on, so find one you want, and get your race on!  See the sites below for info to sign up.
