Saturday, October 24th





Great runs this past weekend by Ellen in Baltimore, Jorge in Detroit and Brian and Lindsey in the Mount Desert Island half marathon in Southwest Harbor Maine as well as Michelle W. in the Go Commando 1/2 in Clarksville, and Maria in the Duke City Marathon. Congrats to everyone who ran the Columbus Marathon, the Indianapolis Marathon and took part in the Bourbon Chase Relay, and those who stuck around town for the Mainklin Run, the See Bob Run and the Scenic Harmony on Saturday.






Good Luck this weekend to those heading to Illinois for the Shawnee Marathon and to Bloomington for the Tecumseh Trail Marathon on Saturday.







Good Luck and safe travels to those heading to DC for the Marine Corps Marathon on Sunday, enjoy your visit and save a little for that last hill!





Good Luck also to those running the Get Your Cape On Race and Survive Alive 5k in Evansville, the Trick or Treat Dash in Mt. Vernon and the Zombie Gauntlet 5k in Henderson.






Below is a 12 mile and a 14 mile option for this week, should be able to easily cut out a few for those deep into the taper.

Saturday, October 17th

We have a Winner....Congrats to Cathy Happy Pace" Downes on the Overall Female win in the Celina Marathon on Saturday, and too everyone who ran the full, half or 8 miler on this very tough, hilly course, a great event and I hope to see it return in 2016! Big weekend in Chicago as well, Congrats to everyone who ran the Chicago Marathon on Sunday, one of my favorite races, if you haven't been put it on your list.



 




It was another very inspiring Sunday in Louisville as some new Ironmen or rather Women were crowned, Congrats to everyone who took on this challenge, It was both fun and heart wrenching to follow along all day....now get some much needed rest!






Good Luck and safe travels to Ellen as she heads to Baltimore for the Baltimore Marathon Saturday and to everyone heading to the Indianapolis Marathon, the Detroit Free Press Marathon and the Grand Rapids Marathon on Sunday. Good Luck also to those heading to New Harmony for the Scenic 5k and those running the Manklin Street Run, the See Bob Run 5k, Superhero 5k in Vincennes and the Legends Spooky Trail Race in Owensboro on Sunday!






Several are heading towards the taper this weekend so below is a 12 Mile route and an extension that will get you 16, if you need to cut short you can use the new pedestrian walk at Vann to cross over the Lloyd and head back down Walnut. We will start to utilize these new catwalks in future routes, I have had a request for a catwalk run.

Volunteer Opportunity:


Want to help care for the trails in the community?


On Saturday, October 17th, the Parks Department is organizing volunteer outings to rehabilitate the crushed stone paths at the State Hospital. Work hours both days are 9am-12pm, though any time you can contribute would be helpful.




Just bring yourself and park in the gravel lot just inside the entrance off of Lincoln Avenue. Gloves and tools will be provided by the DPR. The primary tasks will be weed removal and regrading the gravel bed
