January 26, 2019

Here we are in week four of the 2019, and the last weekend of January. The weather was nice and sunny and highs in the mid 60's what a nice weekend to run! Oh, wait that was my weekend in California, sorry I think most of you had a cold wet, sometime snowy one. It looks like the following Saturday is going to be much of the same. I am hoping that we can avoid the snow and rain on Saturday and get a good one in.

If you are wondering why we are gathering in the information on the other running groups in town, you have to understand that I am a group runner. I don't push myself like I should, and rely totally on the group to keep me going. I enjoy the comradery of the group, and have some great friends in it!  Some run best alone, and push themselves to perfection. I feel that with all of the options of running groups, we can always settle in to a good training run. If you train for marathons or half's, the BOR group is a good option since the long runs will usually be 12 to 14 miles. If you like to just keep in shape for shorter distances, Run 812 will give you what you need, and if you don't like carrying water, and like a good group, the Tri, or Loop Group will keep you returning to the start for whatever you keep for water or nourishment. We have options!

Again, if you are planning to do an out of town race, send me a link, and if you are planning to attend one, let me know too. We will try to keep track of times and places so that people can group up to make the trips special!

This week BOR, will travel through Run 812. We will start at the Y, and head for Wesselmans, where 812 is starting, and follow parts of their route, before returning.

The Loop Group will start at the Franklin street Dairy Queen, and what a place to finish! That's my kind of post race stop!

As always be Courteous and Safe Runners!

Goal for 2019
is Not to be Better Than Anyone Else,
But to be Better Than I Used to Be

Here is an opportunity to help out those in need, all while enjoying oneself!

The Ozanam Family Shelter is hosting a Sock Hop as a fundraiser for the Shelter. The Sock Hop will occur at the VFW on Wabash Ave., Saturday, February 23rd; Tickets are $25 a person. A chicken dinner will be provided with your ticket.
o Doors Open – 5 p.m.
o Dinner Served – 6:30 p.m.
o Music/Dance – 7:30 – 10:30 p.m.
o Silent Auction closes – 8 p.m.
o Chance Auction closes – 8:30 p.m.

There will be a cash bar to get you out on the dance floor. We will also have auctions and half pots. I know $25 is a steep price for a chicken dinner, but this is a fundraiser. At least $12 from that ticket sale will go straight to the Shelter!
There were at least 200 attendees last year and we set a goal of 350 this year.
If you are interested, please let me know asap so I can reserve the tickets for you.
Much Appreciated,

Bradley R. Hayden

January 19, 2019

Here we are in Week Three of the New Year.  The past weekend Saturday run was a snow out for a lot of the groups, with some picking it up on Sunday, and the brave and brazen, going out and playing in it on the Greenway.  (Jeff, Miki, Cathy, and Deanna)  I have also heard that some of the morning Gilbert group went for it too, but not sure of the faces.

It looks like the Snowflake Derby had some good racers, and maybe just a little mud on the trail portion.  Congrats to all that raced, and those that brought home the bling!

We have got a few Marathons and Ultras listed, but lack the websites and people interested in joining the groups.  Please send me the links via e-mail, and names of those planning to go.

Looks like the BOR will venture North to Central, starting at the Y at 7.
Run 812 will start from Wolfs Bar-B-Q at 7, and running the area around Central
The Loop Group will also Start at the Y at 7 and loop from there

Everyone have fun out there, and most of all be Safe!
