August 15, 2020

Here we are mid August, and with all of the rain, we have had some cooler temps and at times lower humidity.  I guess we are inching into fall, and for those of us that like cooler less humid runs, that is a great thing!  This past weekend, many had a chance to test out their racing skills with the virtual race routes put fourth from Meghan and the Team 13 team.  Hope you all had a chance to get your virtual run in, and was able to keep up with the pace you anticipated.

This weekend, Team 13 ventures to Newburgh, and in particularly to Friedman Park.  The BOR group can take advantage of the open areas to get our miles in also.  Team 13 starts around 7 am, see your email for route, and the BOR group will start at 6 am, and shoot for 2 loops of the 7 mile course, or cut it to meet your training needs.  Restrooms are available at Friedman Park, but please bring your own water to stop by your car, or carry your water bottle.

If you like to see your training or racing pictures in this blog, post them to Facebook, and I will post as many as I see.  If you notice some of the same group, lots, the tribe seems to take the most selfies, with Brooke catching most of them.  Keep it up!

In racing, as most probably know the rest of the Y Series races are virtual or can be deferred.  The virtual EPD Foundation Swat 5 K, is available for sign up, and next weekend, there is the Tough Cookie mud run, so get with, To the Finish for signups.

For all current racing info, get with one of the sites below to sign up or view upcoming races.

August 8, 2020

We're now getting to the second week of August, and have had a few days that we wish would hang around until fall starts!  The lower temperatures and lower humidity are refreshing!  Don't get too used  to them, this is Southern Indiana!

Last weekend we followed Team 13 out to the West Side, in particular Burdette Park and USI trails.  The humidity and rolling hill were a challenge for many, but if you weathered it out, it made you much stronger for running!  A couple of our runners ran a real live race again, and it was another endurance race.  It was a 12 hour race in Shelbyville Kentucky.  Congrats to all that were able to compete and finish with their miles!

This weekend would have been the Y Series 5 or 10 K race, and  it is a virtual race, so I am posting possible routes to get your 5 or 10 K virtual race done.  They are provided by the race site with Team 13, 5K and 10K virtual race link  If you are not doing your virtual race this weekend, I am also posting a North Side 12 mile route.  Carry your water.

In racing, I don't see anything on the local schedules, but the EPD Swat Challenge is coming up next weekend, and it is also changed to a virtual 5 K, so get signed up for that one through, "To the Finish Timing".

Remember to get signed up for one of the virtual races that are going on, and there is still time to get in the Y Series races  leading up the the Half Marathon.  See the sights below for information.

August 1, 2020

Here we are kicking off a new month, and  the weather is cooling off for us.  Don't get too used to it, because it is August!  Last weekend, Ultimate Fit hosted the training run and everyone had a chance to get their sweaty 5 miles in.  A couple of the group ventured to Taylorsville KY, to run a night run on a golf course.  Congrats for at least having a good time!

This weekend we will venture out to Burdette Park and run some trails.  You can start at either end, Burdette, or USI, and  know that it is about 3 miles each way.  Team 13 will meet at the Swimming Parking area and has a route posted to their email group.  If you are a member, you'll have the route, if not, it's still not too late to join, and support such a great group.  If you'd like it would be best to Park away from the group, to keep social distancing in order.  Please carry your water, and stay safe!

In racing, I believe there are still virtual races to get in on, and one all about streaking, but not like we did as a young adult.  You can still sign up for the Y Series, which some are virtual now, and if you want sign up individually, and get the Evansville Half Marathon in there too!  Check out the sites below for all of the local races directors and race sites.
