September 12, 2020BO

What can I say, this year is moving fast, even though so much craziness is going on!  The second weekend in September, and last weekend we had a chance to run a real race.  There were 2 local races, with Run Victoria, and the Evansville Labor Day run.  Hopefully if you felt safe running, you got out there and tested your body against some other folks doing the same!

This weekend would have been the running of the Y series 15 K race, and Team 13 is providing a route or 2 that can be used if you want to run it virtual.  Since it will be downtown from the Old Y, I will throw the 5 mile add on for anyone that wants a few extra.

In Local racing, it looks pretty dry for this weekend, but To the Finish has a race up in Fort Wayne IN.  If you feel like getting away and running live, get with them and sign up.  If you feel like spectating a high school XC race, there is one Saturday also at Washington IN.  A few of the Ultra runners found races for the weekend, but I lack the information on these.  Look at the sites below to see if there is a virtual or other race coming up that interests you!

September 5, 2020

We're into another month, and it seems like September just snuck up on us!  The good thing is the cooler weather that we can expect!  Everyone is still training, and hoping for more in person races to open up!  Many I have talked with are experiencing some sort of running depression from not being able to compete in person.

The Team 13 group trained their 9 mile long run last weekend, and it was a challenge, but those that got through it accomplished something good!  Some were able to get in the Azzip Fun run at Garvin Park, and hopefully had a good time!

This weekend, it's the annual 10 mile cookie run with Team 13, with a bad twist.  You have to bring your own cookies, and because of Covid requirements, no sharing.  That is the best part of this event!  Sharing, or sampling all the other goodies!  Team 13 starts at 7 am from Wesselmans Park and the route below is 10 miles.  If any BOR runners want an 18 miler, run from the Y at 6:10 am, or if you want a 12 miler, start early, and do the out to the overpass route from Wesselmans to add 2 or 4 to Washington.

In racing this weekend, there is the Run Victoria on Saturday, and the Evansville Labor Day Run at Goebel Complex on Monday.  There is the new, Indiana Covered Bridge virtual tour.  Whatever you want to keep your running juices flowing, get with the sites below to get signed up!

August 29, 2020

August is just about over, and the heat and humidity are back.  Saturday may be a little cooler as it appears a cold front may come in with the remnants of the hurricane after Friday.

Last weekend Team 13 had an eight mile training day, and many enjoyed the past gone display of out of shape Team 13 runners.  Hope everyone is doing well with their training! Some of you may have  ran the, Back to the 80"s Race, and hopefully you had fun with that and ran your best!   Michelle Walker was able to find a real marathon in South Dakota.  Congrats on a BQ!  With the Covid  19 problems for the year, we are forced to make a decision on whether to run the Y Series races virtual, defer until next year, or donate your money for the benefit of the Y programs.  You have until August 31 to notify Meghan Craven of your decision.

This weekend, Team 13 is going for a 9 mile total long run, witch is split into 2 loops a 3 and 6 mile loop. to bring you back to your car for water.  I will have a 5 mile add on route for those that want to get extra mileage before or after the Team 13 training.

In racing, there are always the different virtual races, as this would have been the 15K Y Series race. There is also an Azzip Fun Run at Garvin Park.  Check out the sites below to find one of the races that meet your needs.
