October 31, 2020

What could be more scary than Halloween 2020?  With the direction things have gone so far, who knows!  Everyone kept up with their training this past weekend, and some fun pics were caught.  Keep up the training, and if anyone wants to rejoin the groups, there are runners, walkers and everywhere in between still out hitting the roads Tuesday, Thursdays, and Saturdays.  If you need a group, ask on the Facebook BOR post, and someone will find you.

This weekend, Run Walk 812 is starting out at the State Hospital grounds at 7 am.  Meet up at the small parking lot just South of Lincoln.  Shari has a 4.5, 7.5, 8, and 9 mile routes posted, and you can also find them below.  Those that want a longer run, start from the Y downtown for a little over 9.5 mile add on, and should probably start at 6 am, from the Y to join up at the start of 812's group.  Dress up in your favorite Halloween running costume to make it the most fun!  The Loop Group will start from Downtown, on Vine, near Vectren at 7 am, and do their loops from that point.

In local racing, it looks like there is the Red Dome Trail Festival 5 & 10K at Scales Lake Park, Saturday.  Tri State Fitness should get you going on this race.  The Ace Scare Skele-Fun Run 5K at UE, with Rise Up and Run.   Blazin Glazin Fun run is Sunday, at Deaconess Sports Park.  There are still some Virtual races going on, so if you want to run safer, get signed up for one of these.  See the sites below for other upcoming races.

October 24, 2020

October is nearing it's end, and Fall continues to progress!  With just a few warm days this week, we seem to be trending toward colder temperatures and all the good things that come with them.  Some of you may have run the Franklin Street Beer run, and if so, I'm sure you had a good time.  Mom O Six, Michelle Walker found another marathon in Tennessee, and not only came home with a good time, but the bling that comes with, First Masters Female in the race!  Congrats Michelle, you are an inspiration to all!  Congrats to the overall Male and Female winners in the Indiana Brewery Running Series, Kristy and Chris!  Hope the runs were worth the beer!

This weekend, the BOR group will start out around 6:20 am Saturday from the Y, and run out to meet Run Walk 812 at Mesker Parking lot, at 7 am.  Shari has put together a couple of routes from that point, and claims only one hill.  The Loop Group will be in the area, starting at Barker and Clairemont at 7 am. Routes will be below.

In Local racing, keep a look out for the Virtual races listed on the sites below.  I don't see any other local races this weekend, so if you know of one that I have missed, please post to the Facebook page.

Have a great running weekend out there!

October 17, 2020

Our first free week out from the Half Marathon, and hopefully all of you are hanging in there to keep the training going!  Remember you have to keep you body in good shape all year to keep yourself ready for the races.  If you train for the annual race, you will work much harder and be sore more often than if you keep it going!  Get some warm weather training clothes, preferably layering to get you through the whole winter.  You can stay warm and get your miles just the same as summer.  There were a couple of the group that ran an ultra, Congrats Big Sexy for your 2nd over all Female place, and First in age group.  Some ran the Run with the Yeti race, and hoping all had a good time!

This weekend the BOR group will meet downtown at the Y, our usual place for the long run, and Run Walk 812, is meeting there too.  We will follow the route Shari is putting out, and adding in the middle to get the 12 miles we keep for a minimum.  Both groups will meet at the Y at 7 am.  There is construction on Walnut before and through U of E, but it is manageable.  The Loop Group, will meet at Friedman Park in Newburgh at 7 am.

This weekend in local racing, it looks like the Franklin Street Beer Run, starting at Leroy's Tavern.  There are still some Virtual races out there, so for the most up to date information, check out the links below.  Have fun out there!
