Saturday, November 19th

Congratulations go out this week to everyone who took part in the Drumstick Dash on Saturday morning, not only for getting up and getting the miles in but for doing it for such a great cause, always good to see such a big group for this race. Congrats as well to those who ran the half marathon in Nashville, to Darrel H. on his finish in the Chickamauga Battlefield Marathon and to Evansville’s own Danny G. on the Pensacola Half Marathon Win.

Big Congrats also go out to those that made the trip to Vienna, IL for the Tunnel Hill 50 and 100 mile runs…WoW is all I can say….Cathy, Kendra, Jen and Chris as well as those who gave up a night’s sleep and helped crew and pace, Great Run!

Best of Luck this weekend to Michele W. as she goes for Ironman number three in a row this weekend in Arizona, and to those running the Let’s Play 5k here at home and the Turkey Day 5 Miler in Owensboro.

Anne Audain at Swift Athletics
November 21st (Monday) at 5:30 PM
A presentation/Q&A with Anne Audain - the 3 time Olympian from New Zealand and former world record holder in the 5,000 meters will be telling her inspiring life story and sharing secrets to her success in life & on the track/roads. Anne's book will be available for purchase in the shop.

Saturday, November 19th will be our 6th Annual 5Kan Food Drive and our second year as a multi group effort, as always there is No Entry Fee, No T-shirt, No Bib, No Chip Timing, in fact there is not even a 5K distance, but there is a chance to brighten the Holidays for a few families.
Bring your kan goods (or other non-perishable food items) to the Saturday run and enjoy a morning run with goods friends and free water every 4 milesish. We will be collecting the food items before the run at Wal-mart, at the Downtown Y for those starting from there and after the run at Cracker Barrel and then distributing them to Ozanam Family Shelter just in time for the Thanksgiving Holiday.

“Hunger is something no one should struggle with, or be judged for.”-

This one takes a little more planning because it is a One Way street, but don't freak out. We have never had anyone stranded. We usually start at the Cracker Barrel, to drop off cars and carpool - meeting at 6:00 am and decide who is driving and who is keeping their car behind. Most important in the planning is to make sure you are getting a ride with someone who matches your breakfast plans. Comment on Facebook or Comments section below for ride options.

If you start at the Westside Walmart the total mileage will be 12.2 miles, plus add-ons. The 12 milers will be starting around 6:30 from Walmart on the Westside and 9.5 milers from Pizza King at approx. 6:45. If you want only to do the 7.5 miles starting from the YMCA you can start around 7:15am. If you are only doing 5 miles, my suggestion would be to meet at the Donut Bank on Lincoln at approximately 7:30.

For the core 12+ miles:

Starting from West Side Walmart, east end of the back parking lot.

R on Red Bank
L on Claremont
L on Barker
R on Franklin
Water at Pizza King (9.5 mile will start at 6:45)
