December 14, 2019

Well, it's getting close to Christmas, hope you have all been good!  Better get to your favorite running store and get that much needed gear, before Santa stocks up for his annual run!  Meanwhile in racing, this past weekend, if you wanted to see Santa, you should have gone to the Rotary Santa Run 5K!  Santa's ran in all shapes and sizes and ages, and some were able to take home the bling!  Some of the group went down to run at the St. Jude marathon and half, with donations to help their cause, and we thank them immensely for all they do!  Big Sexy ran a marathon with so many hills that one would not know if they were coming or going!  Congrats on 3rd overall female and 1st in her age group!  Kim Townsend ran in California and smoked something other than the recreational product they are known for to whip out a 3:26:40 BQ time!  Congrats Kim!  Cao, went to San Antonio to visit relatives, and couldn't resist running a marathon there too!  Way to go Cao!

This weekend the BOR group will meet at the Y at 7 am. and again go North and maybe see some of our Run Walk 812 friends as they meet at 7 am., at the low end of Wolf's parking lot.  The Loop Group will meet at USI softball parking lot off of Broadway at 7 am. for a few hills.

This weekend in racing, The Run with the Yeti is rescheduled to be ran at Angel Mounds on Saturday at 8 am.  The Angel Run 4K is also set to go at Newburgh First Christian Church at 8 am.  On Sunday, the 12 Ks of Christmas/Jingle all the 5 K's is being ran at Garvin Park at 1 pm.  If you want to run any of these, get with one of the 3 local race organizers to get signed up!

Keep in mind the date of December 21st, next Saturday where we will be again meeting at Ultimate Fit for a Christmas toy drive for Ozanam and other kids in need. There is also a need for men's adult gifts of belts and wallets for men at Ozanam.  I am told that another group is buying for their women.  There is a Christmas Breakfast planned for after the run. Meet at Friendship Diner off of Burkhardt, in the old Los Bravos site, Tudor Ln. and Columbia St. All running groups are welcome to attend both!  Tell them you are with the running group and they will seat you in the right area.  Unfortunately due to prior committments, I will have to miss this event, so hope everyone has a good breakfast time together in this Christmas season!

A Look ahead, on the evening of February 22, it's the 3rd annual Sweetheart Sock Hop to benefit needs at Ozanam.  It will be held at the VFW post located at 110 Wabash Ave.  Last year many of the runners came out to enjoy an evening of dancing for this good cause.  Contact Danette Romines at, Osanam.dromines@gmail.com or 812 422 2214.

As always, be courteous and thoughtful to the drivers, while running the streets!

Goal for 2019
is Not to be Better Than Anyone Else,

But to be Better Than I Used to Be!
